Watch: O'Donoghue grabs equaliser with last kick for Mayo to deny Galway

Ryan O’Donoghue’s point in the sixth minute of injury-time saw Mayo snatch a 1-11 to 2-8 draw against neighbours Galway at MacHale Park tonight.

There had been no shortage of drama in this Allianz Football League Division 1 opening round clash, and the best was saved for last by corner-forward O’Donoghue with the last kick of the game.

James Carr’s sensational goal gave Mayo the upper hand 10 minutes in but it’d be cancelled out within three minutes thanks to Paul Kelly’s strike for the Connacht champions.

Points from Robert Finnerty and Damien Comer would see the visitors take in a 1-5 to 1-3 half-time lead, but it was Kevin McStay’s men that landed the first three points of the restart to surge in front.

Matthew Tierney’s goal gave Galway back the lead and they looked to have the job done, with late points from Peter Cooke and Comer outweighing one from Cillian O’Connor but O’Donoghue had the final say with this superbly struck effort (see below):
