Interesting to know who people thought were Dublins best players over the 2011-2019 era.

Too much of an embarrassment of riches to possibly narrow it down. Could be 40 players on any one list. If they had two teams in the Leinster championship, the final would likely be Dublin A vs. Dublin B. In fact they'd likely meet in the All-Ireland final too or the semis. The majority of the panels between 2010/2020 will remain household names in 20/30/40 years time, particularly if Dublin begin falling off, then again by 2050 whose to say how many more all-Ireland's they'll have won? Maybe this generation will be cancelled out by future successes.
To somewhat answer your question, my personal opinion of their very best players from 2010/2020 is Cluxton, Connolly, O'Callaghan, McMenamin, Fenton, and McCarthy. But I could list many, many more who id rate very, very highly. The weakest links on those Dublin teams were still A2 players.

It's impossible, tried many times, we had this going on the Dubs forum a while ago, everyone had different players many not included above, harsh on Alan as well, on the road until 15, via a player of the year.

Very hard to rank the top 20 Dublin players, they've been outstanding during that period, Gaa's first truly professional setup.

left him off because A Brogan would be top 5-6 if it was over his entire career/peak years

When did Shane Ryan finish up playing? He was so under rated it was embarrassing. He complimented the physical Whelan and Ciaràn got the majority of the plaudits - for me I wpuld have picked Ryan any day over the bigger Whelan.

He had the knack of running into space to collect Cluxton's kick outs chest high. Was not the spectacular fielder in the traditional sense but prob won more clean ball with his technique.

He was one player I really admired with Dublin along with Paul Flynn who was untouchable for a few years in the early to mid 2010's.

Goes to complain about why a Dublin poster would be interested in other county's opinions of Dublins top 20 10's players.

Sees op is from Mayo - never mind!

Its literally an impossible task. Sure there is about 10 players that could be argued over for the number 1 spot.

So many greats of the game in one era. When you look at the 20 players you have posted there, and even think of the many left out, it really gives you an idea of how good this team was. Wow!!!!

Paul Flynn, Jack McCaffrey and Bernard Brogan would be my favourite players from those Dublin teams of recent times but I wouldn't attempt to rank them in order.

When you look at that list in the OP it really is frightening the talent they have had at their disposal over the years, along with a superb coaching setup and manager it is no wonder they have dominated to the extent that they have.

John Small not on the list, probably the first name on the team sheet over the last few years. Murch, Nolan, Ger Brennen, Bastick, Brian Cullen.

1. Stephen Cluxton
2. James McCarthy
3. The rest changing places as the decade goes on imo.

The top two are the only two that were consistently always two of Dublin's top and most important performers from 2011 to 2019.

Well that's ridiculous. Scored two goals in '13 final? Did you forget that

Personally, I'd have Kilkenny in with those 2. Huge influence overall.

Don't remember McCarthy ever having a bad game for Dublin. But if that's your criteria, then Cluxton has had plenty and can't be ahead of him, surely!? Jack, Kilkenny (apart from when Keegan stuck to him like glue), Fenton would be ahead also.

Bernard got those 2 goals.

Alan missed 2013 through injury.

Cluxton has been integral to the set up, tactics throughout all those years. The few poor games he's had, more a couple of mistakes within games realistically, have been detrimental on the scoreboard which kinda proves the point of how integral he has been to Dublin. If Cluxton 'has had plenty' of bad games then Dublin would have lost far more games than they did.

Cluxton has been the most important player for Dublin this last decade.

McCaffrey only came in in 2013, had a decent first year, ok in 14, great in 15, absent entirely in 16, injured in the opening minutes of the 17 final for example.

Kilkenny, 2013 first full season was pretty decent, out injured for all of 14, good enough in 15, ok in 16, decent in 17, fantastic through 18 and 19 to be fair.

Fenton only arrived in 15, was pretty good in his first year, was excellent in 16, 17, 18 to be fair and was decent again last year. Probably the closest to McCarthy in terms of consistent excellence.
