Davy Fitzgerald has questioned the decision to award Clare a contentious ’65 in the dying moments of Waterford’s Munster SHC defeat.
Mark Rodgers converted it to give the Banner a dramatic 4-21 to 2-26 win, after which an irate Fitzgerald made his feelings known towards referee Liam Gordon and also appeared to clash with a member of the Clare backroom team.
"I don’t think they knew. I think it was a guess at the end of it, that’s what it looked like,” the Waterford manager said in an interview with RTÉ.
"All the boys were saying to me they hadn’t a clue. It’s just hard. We probably deserved a puckout."
He added: "We came to Ennis and put up some display. I’m so proud of the boys. We’re absolutely devastated. We felt we were going to win today. I think we’re very unlucky not to get something out of that."
